Hello David,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. We have messaged them with that request and informed them it's Government policy.

Thanks again, much appreciated.

Hi mixman09

If she denies that it is government policy, here is the government press release.....
www.gov.uk/support-visit-benefit-claim

Eligibility
A visit can be arranged for you if you need extra help to claim benefits, for example because you:

have complex needs
are disabled
are a vulnerable young person making a claim for the first time
have nobody else to support you
cannot claim benefits in any other way
DWP will also arrange a support visit if someone you know is applying to become your appointee to help you manage your benefits.

Hello David,

Here's the latest message from the DWP -

"Hello Stephen,

You have already confirmed Liam is capable of attending the office with a support worker. Due to the migration of ESA customers to Universal Credit, the visit team are prioritising visits for customers who have absolutely no other means of being able to verify their identity, in person. Those customers are experiencing waits in excess of 6 weeks for the visit appointment notification in itself. This is therefore delaying the processing of their claim. What this would mean for Liam is requesting a home visit could leave him without payment of his Universal Credit for at least 6 weeks, if not longer. Liam's ID appointment is booked for tomorrow meaning he can apply for funds tomorrow once this has been verified. Requesting a home visit simply because Liam fits the criteria does not appear to be in Liam's best interests and would be a conscious decision to cause potential hardship. We would need to arrange a telephone appointment for Liam in order for the necessary information to be gathered for the referral to the visiting team. This can only be done by speaking directly to Liam in the first instance.

Kind regards
Amanda
Universal credit"

Have to say as much as they should be making more effort to accommodate me. It seems there isn't anything else that can be done. But willing to be proven wrong.

Thank you, much appreciated.

Hello,

Is there anything else I can do? Or do I need to go to the Face to face appointment tomorrow?

Thank you, much appreciated.

Hi mixman09

Just like anyone phoning in sick for work you could say in a Journal message that if you are unwell you cannot attend the appointment.
I think that you have good grounds for a DWP manager's complaint as a UC agent should not use the threat of withholding Benefits for over 6 weeks as a means to enforce an administrative action. If you tell me your City/County of residence I can locate the correct manager to make a complaint.

Hi David,

Thank you for getting back to me. I understand what you are saying and yes I think you have a point. However, I don't see a way out of this without going to the Jobcentre appointment tomorrow. Could I do both attend the appointment and make a complaint. I live in York.

Thank you, much appreciated.
