Medical information on diagnoses used by DWP?

Hi.

I found this medical guidance was posted for DLA, and it goes through different conditions, providing information for decision makers: www.gov.uk/government/publications/medic...lt-cases-staff-guide

It was first published in 2014 with only minor updates since then (though is seemingly still in use for DLA).

Is there an equivalent of this for UC/PIP/etc available?

I've tried to search for this and failed, but thought I had a memory of seeing something like this on here previously. Sorry if I've missed it. Thanks.

Replied by Gateway on topic Medical information on diagnoses used by DWP?
Thanks Chris.

I don't think that's really it.

Presumably the DWP must still produce medical information for it's disability assessors on the different diagnoses people apply for UC/PIP/etc for, like they did for DLA.

I'd have thought someone would have FOI'd that information and training, even if it wasn't originally intended for public release, and it would be a bit interesting to see what it said, and what ideological medical trends were being promoted within the DWP at the moment.

I have heard government departments are doing more to avoid releasing information though.

Hi Gateway,

If it's not that, then sorry - I don't really know where you need to be looking. This website has thousands of different pages, so sometimes it's just trying keywords to search and look yourself for the specified topic that you're after.
