Scared Of Potential Sanction was created by jah
Hello. Today, on 3rd April at 2:15 p.m., I had a work search review appointment at the Jobcentre. I was given a to-do activity to apply for a job opportunity as a Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker. On my to-do list, I was instructed to update my existing one—to match the job description as closely as possible.

However, they gave me until 5pm to email the new cv to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. -- 2 hours and 45 minutes! I only managed to complete it just before midnight. Surely this isn’t allowed? I don't know for a fact if they will sanction me, but obviously I am worried when it states in my Work Plan: "Activities
I've agreed with my work coach that I'll: I will continue to explore suitable job goals for my health condition and discuss these with my Work Coach .
apply for the domestic abuse outreach worker in my journal as discussed with my work coach with Rising Sun to increase my chances of progressing into employment before 5pm 3rd April. I understand If I do not apply for this vacancy this may impact my universal credit.  by 16 April 2025". Please help. Kind Regards. James.

Hi jah

It appears that you agreed with the Work Coach to apply for this job. You will not get a Sanction if you can still apply for it. Is the vacancy still open?

Hi David,

Thanks for your response. I have no way of viewing the job advert, as it’s only available through the job centre. That’s why I could only apply by sending my CV to the email address given to me. I suppose I’ll just have to wait and see.

Just as a side note—I find being on UC very frustrating. They’re both ineffective at helping me find work and constantly looking for reasons to sanction me. As a result, I feel like I’m spending more time trying to avoid sanctions than actually looking for a job.

Kind regards,
James

Hi jah

It is very difficult for them to Sanction you for actions that you have not agreed and which have not been added in writing to your Claimant Commitment.
So I think be careful about what you agree or they push you to agree.
One of the reasons you get shouting and hovering Security Guards at the Jobcentre is because of this issue.
