I have recently received a journal message from the local Jobcentre informing me that I had a phone appointment to agree a Claimant Commitment for New Style ESA. I asked for an explanation. I'm now more confused because I was under the impression that you are either on UC or New Style ESA not both at once. This was the explanation I was given and an assurance I wouldn't notice a change and would still receive payments every two weeks. Therr was no mention of what is happening with my Housing Benefit. Could you please help me with this?
You can get New Style ESA and UC together. This is the situation with the majority of ESA claimants who would have been getting Conts Based ESA with an Income Based ESA top up to include premiums such as SDP and Disability Income Guarantee. Unfortunately you are going to have to agree 2 claimant commitments, one for UC and one for NS ESA. It is something that the previous Tory governments wanted to be included in a Benefits claim instead of the concept of " entitlement ".
