How can they do this to us? was created by Arthritic Annie
Hi,

I'm still in utterly turmoil about these proposed changes as I'm sure you all are.

- in your experience what are the chances this could be stopped / changed / watered down?

Surely they can't really do this?

I would love to be well enough to hold down a job and infact fought tooth and nail to keep my job of 5years before my employer got fed up and paid me off after being on long term sick for 15months.

I have read though the couple of assessments I have here and they say things like long term illness, not likely to improve etc my last review ( paper based )was increased to 4years and the DM said based on all available evidence I was unlikely to improve. ( which at the time was a relief but now it's going to push me past the November 26 deadline) How can they honestly take everything from me under the guise of helping me in to work? If I could work i would! I worked very hard for my career and it was devastating to lose it and the salary that went with it. Unfortunately for me at present I am rather unemployable...... !!

Also WHERE are all they employers and jobs coming from? ( even the government are cutting jobs due to this wonderful economy labour have created!)

Sorry for the rant, I don't know where to turn and my husband can't take much more of my worrying.

Hi Arthritic Annie

Yes, many claimants, organisations and some MPS are concerned about the proposed PIP changes. At this stage, no one knows precisely what will happen, and until the proposals are confirmed and the government announce what actions will be taken, and who it is going to impact, there is nothing we can say to reassure people.

I know it's not easy - but if you spend the next few months asking 'what if...'?" or 'why...?" or "can they..?" you will never get a satisfactory answer and you will make yourself ill, on top of the difficulties you already have. I know it appears as if no one is going to get PIP from Nov 26 and every disabled person will be forced to work, but that won't happen. Will some people be adversely affected? Undoubtedly. And even one person being adversely affected is one too many and we can guess that it could run into thousands of people. But until it is confirmed exactly who is going to be affected, apart from writing to your MP or putting your name to any of the online surveys - there is nothing you can do.

Steve will report on any changes in the B&W newsletter as they come in, and he is a trustworthy source. It's up to you how much you expose yourself to other sources, but reading a lot about it when no one can give you definitive answers won't help. Focus on you and getting through every day, just as you did before these wretched announcements came out.

I'm locking your post - so no one else will be able to comment, because we are finding that discussion posts increase the distress of many of our members, and right now we need to spend our time helping people complete forms, and managing migration for other benefits. Please don't think we don't care - we do, and some of the mods are also affected by the proposed changes.
