I'm in Scotland and in February this year automatically was moved from PIP to ADP by Social Security Scotland. My benefit renewal date for PIP and now ADP was 12 April. So this week I received a 17 form from Dundee stating all the points I received from the Daily Living and Mobility descriptors when I was last awarded PIP in April 2022.
Page 16 of the form is a DECLARATION OF NO CHANGE where I am asked to tick a box to confirm that "MY NEEDS ARE THE SAME".
There is absolutely nothing else.
I have been in receipt of sickness benefits for 20 years now and in all these years Benefits and Work have consistently said 'never simply answer that you've had no change, instead write out an answer in full'.
I do not have this option with this form which surely allows Social Security Scotland to get me off Benefits as there is no supporting evidence eg care plans to explain why I still need physical assistance etc.
So what on earth should I do?
Do as the form asks, tick and return and hope for the best?
Or should I ring up and ask why I've not been sent out the usual over 100 pages assessment form to fill in so they can assess me?
What are others doing in Scotland with this form (there is no reference number on the form)?
On the basis of this one tick box form does this mean more of us here in Scotland are ending up appealing ADP decisions due to Social Security Scotland not asking for further information?

Hi selinacfs

I wish I could answer your question. Perhaps someone else has already experienced this.

My immediate thought is that, because this is a new system, you should ring and ask the question. It is perfectly possible that in order to simplify the process, which they promised they would do, they just want people like yourself who have had lifelong health issues to confirm there is no change and that all you need to do is tick a box.

Hi there,
Im in Scotland and was in same boat as you and signed the no change declaration and sent it off. I was worried I'd done the wrong thing but was pleasantly surprised when a few weeks later I was given the same award for another 4 years. If i was to do it again i would maybe sign and attach a letter restating my issues but in my case it wasn't needed. It was surprisingly stress free actually. Hope this helps
