PIP2 form filling..is it helpful or not to cite other conditions? was created by lonewolf6565
Hi there
I am currently completing my PIP2 form and my condition is severe depression.
My friend feels I should reference my bad IBS, saying it is related, which it probably is, a stress and fear based gut response etc. That it is a way of describing, being more visceral, how I am affected by my psychology, body and emotions. But I feel it may not be helpful as it does not seem to relate to the descriptors and is generally not seen as a condition as serious as depression.
Do you feel it is worth mentioning or just leave it out?
I am hoping this q and a might also be helpful to others, with a similar question.
TIA

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi lonewolf6565
Obviously, it's entirely up to you what you want to include or not include, but I would certainly include it. IBS is incredibly debilitating, and it can affect how much nutrition you can take on board, along with the depression, it could affect your ability to prepare a meal, it could affect you wanting to leave the house, it could have an impact on you wanting to socialise, etc, etc. Your depression may be your primary disability, but I would encourage you to include the co-morbidity.

Definitely, IBS is linked to stress.
