PERMITTED Work on NS ESA & UC LCWRA Work allowance

Greetings....

I will be migrating over to UC one day and wanted to kindly ask some questions,

I receive PIP both components high,

Its been my understanding that Ive been on IR ESA and receive the SDP as a single person with no children. I also do permitted work (8 hours a week)

Ive recently discovered that my ESA may be partly CB ESA even though on my ESA yearly letters it says IR ESA

Anyways, one of my questions is, If when I move over to universal credit, and they put me on NS ESA for having been partly receiving CB ESA on my legacy benefits as well as putting me on UC with my TP and LCWRA, will I be able to receive my "permitted earnings" on NS ESA as well as being allowed a "work allowance" of £411 on my UC claim???

Hi K

There is no such thing as Permitted Work in UC.
Any New Style ESA you receive is deducted £ for £ from your UC.
You are entitled to the LCWRA Work Allowance.
You would be advised to use a Benefits Calculator such as Entitledto.co.uk

Are you aware that if you reduce your work hours under UC it is possible to lose all your Transitional Protection?

Sorry if ive sent this response twice David, im new on here and trying to navigate my way around how to message/post etc

Ok, Lets say I migrate over to UC and im also on NS ESA (duel claim I believe they call it)

1, Could I still my do permitted work hours on my NS ESA award ?

AND

2, Even though my NS ESA will be deducted from my UC award £F£ and ill only be receiving the LCWRA/and housing element, can I also earn the £411 disregarded work allowance in my UC award too?

Hi K

The reason why I recommended you used Entitledto.co.uk is to show you how the new Benefits interact when Permitted Work no longer exists with UC. But yes you can do Permitted Work with NS ESA and you will have a UC Work Allowance of £411.

Thank you David for your swift response

To be honest, my autistic brain is finding this all very confusing at the moment, reason being I have always thought that Id only been receiving IR ESA and have only recently been made aware that there is a part CB ESA element to my award which has thrown me off a bit as the calculations on benefit calculators come back very different to what I originally checked for. Plus im reading so many stories of how people have been migrated over to UC and NS ESA but for some mysterious reason are worse off in their UC calculation and their TP doesnt seem to cover it.

Up until a few weeks ago I had never heard of NS ESA so am finding out all I can before they migrate me over

Once again, thank you so much for your time in messaging me back David

Hi K

Unfortunately you will need to keep an eye out for any DWP mistakes. Here is a guide on how to check your monthly UC statements. They are issued 4 days before the payment.
