ESA to UC question was created by Jono
I’ve received ESA for over 10 years in connection with my PTSD and anxiety. For the last few years I have had no requirement to look for work and had no contact from the local job centre. My ESA to UC migration recently completed and it appears that I have now been put into the work related activity group and now I’m contacted regularly by the local job centre, which I’m finding very stressful.. luckily, at the moment they are doing things over the phone, as there’s no way I will be able to attend face-to-face.

During the migration I was told numerous times that I needed to complete my assigned tasks, but nobody could tell me what the tasks were. At one point someone at my local job centre told me that I had no requirement to complete any tasks because I was categorised as being in support.

The transition is now complete, but I am concerned that I am being wrongly categorised. I’ve spoken to my local job centre who agree with my view, but they can’t make any changes. I’ve tried speaking to Universal Credit but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

DWP have acknowledged that I suffer from PTSD and that my anxiety makes it very difficult for me to leave home and engage with people.

Has anyone got any advice about my situation and which group I should be placed in. also any advice on how I could perhaps correct the categorisation will be very welcome.

For reference, I’m also in the process of undertaking a PIP mandatory reconsideration. Due to my condition, I’ve been unable to handle this on my own and decided to go with an organisation who could help me through the process. I’ve had many phone calls with them over the last couple of months and I’ve just seen their draft submission it really describes my situation well and pulls the assessors report to pieces in numerous ways mainly due to them contradicting themselves in many places. The draft submission, if successful would give me 15 points daily living and 12 points mobility.

Hi Jono

When did you last have the medical WCA ?
Do you have to pay to get that help with your PIP form ??

David
