MR advice and can you be given a shorter award at Tribunal?

Hi,

I'm considering a MR of my PIP review. I was awarded the same rates as my previous award (standard in both categories) and scored 4 points in mixing with other people, they said I could cope with support basically. I avoid social contact at all cost because of how triggering it is for me, and have for years. I think I mentioned in my report that if I'm forced into social situations having another person to talk for me helps, but considering I avoid it basically at all costs because of how distressing it is, I don't see how the 8 points don't apply to me. This is the second time I've been given 4 points for this despite a very lengthy set of extra sheets explaining my situation and supporting evidence from therapist.

I'm really considering challenging this, but the thing is I was given a longer award of 4 years instead of 3 this time, which I really don't want to risk losing. I think I read in the guides that mixing with other people was one of the harder ones to challenge in tribunals?

So my question is, if I challenge this particular point , is that one of the hardest to win on and Is it possible that even if I successfully challenged it I would be given a shorter award time? I'm worried that if I did take it to a tribunal and win I could end up being given a shorter award which I cant afford to happen.

Would really appreciate any thoughts and advice on this thank you.

Hi anxious

Without a crystal ball we cannot tell you as Tribunals are independent and base their decisions on the facts that are presented to them. Yes they could give you a shorter award based on their findings.
