PIP is not a means-tested benefit and therefore, if someone loses their PIP, that money is not replaced with any other type of benefit. PIP forms are typically sent out up to a year before the end date - so it hasn't come early - it's what you would expect.
At some point, he should receive a migration notice for universal credit.
