Prescription charges was created by jem69
I am appointee for my daughter and we're in the process of migrating from IRESA support group to UC. Started the claim on 1 September. So far so good. I was able to do everything for her online. Then I got a letter from DWP to say she will now be on contribution based new style ESA from 15 Sept. I was expecting that so still so far so good. Telephone appointment booked with UC for 23 Sept has now changed to 1 Oct. 1st payment due 7 October. In the meantime I raised a query in her journal about prescription charges and would she have to pay whilst she is migrating after the ESA 2 week run on period to be told the following by UC :

... classed as being on UC from the date of her claim which is 01-09-2025. Please tick the UC box for prescriptions after that date.

I have since found the right answer to this on the forum and no she is not entitled until after I'm presuming her first payment or that telephone call. This is a serious error by UC and could have resulted in me getting a fine!

Hi jem69

If someone had tried to subject you to a fine, you would have easily been able to show the answer you had been given in the journal, and they would have immediately dismissed it. Obviously, this would have been stressful.

I'm glad this hasn't happened to you.
