Back dated payment UC was created by M&E
We had a review of our savings in which we were advised that the back dated amount needed to be spent by April 2025, therefore spend it
I got in touch with my journal asking why we were told different things.
I finally revived an answer; after waiting 2 months.
We are unable to provide you with the letter as there is no record that in April 2026 we will take your capital into consideration. There was no decision required and no change to your award was recorded. The backdated payment from Universal credit will not be taken into consideration. Anything else you have you will need to report and disregard will then be reassessed so you will be asked to provide evidence to check if this is still the benefit money
You can see that your capital is showing as £0
Feeling a little annoyed at this as have spent 2 thousand of the money.
Can we complain or replace the money that spent because we thought we had to get rid
Mike

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi M&E
How is this different from what I advised before :-
"Yes you can save up to £6000 over the backdated amount before the UC Tariff Income hits"

I did ask something different at the end of the but fair enough. Won’t bother you again with this
