Interesting take Haighleagh. And I'd never looked into the ownership of the company. Eye roll!

Hello
An update on my situation:
I ended up ordering an Omoda 5 automatic. Firstly finding a local Motability Omoda dealership was not easy as my local Omoda dealership did not return my calls or reply to my emails. I ended going to an Omoda dealership 25 miles away.
I looked at the Omoda 5 on the 20th of March and the car was supposed to have been ordered then. But on the 13th of May some 7 weeks later the Motability specialist at the Omoda dealership emailed me and informed me that Omoda are no longer producing the Omoda 5 in silver and that another colour would have to be chosen. That suggested that at that point the car had not even been built.
My current lease expires on the 20th of June this coming Saturday and in the first week of this month I rang the dealership and was told by the Motability specialist that the car was built and was in transit in a container and was due in to Harwich on the 6th of June (the Saturday before last). Well Harwich doesn't have car import facilities. It is sited on the estuary where the rivers Orwell and Stour meet at the coast and on the other side of the estuary is Flelixstowe which does have car import facilities.
I don't think the claim that the car was coming into Harwich was slip of memory and that the Motability specialist meant Felixstowe. I think he needed to say that the car was being imported on a certain date to make it look like the car was coming and Harwich was the first port that came to mind.
I called again at the end of last week and I was told by the Motability specialist that he would have a delivery date on Monday this week - 2 days ago. I called the dealership twice on Monday and on both occassions was given an excuse as the the Motability specialist's unavailability - that he was with a customer and was told on both occassions that he would call me back which he never did. That was two days ago and my lease expires this coming Saturday the 20th of June.
I keep getting emails from Motability informing me that all new car orders are running late and that they will just extend my lease, insurance and roadside assistance, but no concrete date as to when the car will arrive.
My current and previous cars are/were VW's these are the best cars that I have had at the time of placing the order for a new car the deposit on a VW. Taigo was £1500 its now £999.
Back in March my budget wouldn't allow for a £1500 deposit but I am going to contact the Motability specialist at the VW dealership and talk to him as I am wondering if due to the fact that my new car appears to still not exist if I can change the car ordered and get another Taigo.
Ideally the solution would be to extend the lease on my current car a VW Taigo as it has done less than 2000 miles but Motability won't do that as they want to remove all petrol cars over 3 years old from the scheme.
As I said in my original post above, getting the infrastructure for an EV charging station is not straightforward because my housing association won't permit EV charging cables to trail across paths and the company that Motability use to undetake the survey for an EV charging point only recomend cover mats which my housing association won't allow as they consider them to be a trip hazzard.
When I have some more news on my situation I will post an update but as Motability are claiming that all new cars are delayed I'm sure that I'm not the only Motability customer with this problem.
Regards
Haighleagh

Hello
I made several phone calls to Motability and to the VW dealership where my current car is from and the Omoda dealership. I can cancal the order, Motability will extend the lease on my present car and then I can order another VW Taigo which the VW dealership says will probably be available in July.
I am so pleased that I am able to do this.
