Will my DLA (Indefinite) end at 65 or 67 (when I am due State Pension)? was created by Bunty123
Hi,
I’ve looked through the Forum, but can’t find anyone asking this, so would really appreciate any help.
I’m receiving DLA (HR Care and HR Mobility) and have been since around 2006.. I have just turned 65, though I’m not due to receive my State Pension until I’m 67. I seem to recall that entitlement to DLA ends at 65, which for some is State Pension age. Please can someone tell me whether my DLA will end with me now being 65, or at 67 which is my State Pension age?
If it does end at 65, when exactly will it finish? And when will I be likely to hear from the DWP?
I’m very concerned as my DLA is the majority of my income (I do receive CB ESA Support Group / now NS ESA) and is also crucial to me receiving Council Tax Reduction and enables me to automatically qualify for my Blue Badge.
Thank you.
Bunty.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Bunty123
I hope you will be migrated from DLA to PIP, but we don't know when that will happen. But even if you have not migrated, your DLA should continue to be paid after state pension age. It doesn't stop like ESA which is a 'work related benefit.

Hi BIS,
Thank you very much for your reply. Does this mean that my existing Contribution Based ESA (now NS ESA) Support Group, will end now I’m 65? Just concerned to know whether State Pension age is actually considered by the DWP to be 65, or in my case 67 which is when mine is supposed to begin?
Also, I couldn’t find my post and your reply on the main page of ‘ESA, PIP, UC and DLA Queries and Results’ Forum page. Please can you tell me where it appears as I only found my post by searching my name.
Thank you.

Hi Bunty123
Your ESA will stop one day before your state pension age, from April this year, State Pension age will rise to 67.
The Pension Service should write to you 3 months before your pension age inviting you to apply, at the same time you may be eligible to apply for Pension Credit depending on your circumstances, we would advise you to seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation.
If you click on your name which is in blue, it should list all your posts, I can see that there is 15.
