I had a brief read and moderators please correct me if I have misunderstood anything. I thought it might be useful for members who are completing application/ review forms.
In brief the crux lay with cooking a simple meal with/without aid a perch stool. Mobilising is not considered part of cooking a simple meal which surprised me, however is considered under transferring e.g. moving from to & from sink to wash vegetables. So you can't gain points for transfering which the claimant was putting forward as he believed he should have been awarded 12 points and not 8 points for daily living .He had already been awarded 12 points for mobility in his award. What the claimant hadn't considered was a perching stool, he was just using crutches and help from his wife.
Something to remember an aid/prop could assist you to do the activity safely
Reliably, repeatably and to a acceptable standard. Maybe if unsure explore this with a occupational therapist as mentioned in this case. Local councils can carry out these assessments whilst your living at home or in hospital to asses your needs for when your discharged and recommend aids ,(& adaptations to the home).
