How long are PIP Reviews currently taking?
I am doing my form atm.
My current award runs out in May 2027.
Will I hear after then??
Thanks. Angela

Hi Angela
The question of PIP review time scales was answered by Stephen Timms last month and the average is 25 weeks.
You should be given a PIP award extension if you haven't heard by early next year.

I sent my review form back in April and it expired this month. Yesterday I got a letter saying it is still in the process and they've extended it for 13 months while they reviews it. Its awful. I just want it over with

Although Sfephen Timms did answer the question with an average of 25 weeks, it was rather economical.
Reviews wise, they are triaged initially in-house to see if they are straightforward no change with enough info and evidence to say so and can be done very quickly.
If need to go to assessment they are placed in an electronic batch queue to await transfer to assessment provider.
There is to date no published process details on how long reviews remain in the queue with the DWP, if they are transferred in batches in date order, or if certain criteria mean some are transferred ahead of others in the queue.
It is known that currently new claims and change of circumstances are taking priority over reviews, and as currently DWP PIP have not been required to state exactly how they are handing the batch queues of outstanding reviews, including giving any average of wait times its impossible to even give an educated guess - the best Ive been able to do is submit a freedom of information request regarding how they are currently handling reviews from ehen enter batch queue to getting to assesment provider, but as to whether they will answer that question or not as it is a process question so they may not be required to answer under current FoI request laws.
So best and only available time taking for reviews really is they will be done when done, if straightforward in-house with assesment provider needed it'll take around 4 to 6 weeks, if assessment provider needed, anything up to a year or beyond, after review forms have been logged as recieved by DWP, scanned onto the system and now have live review status.
