Fit note was created by CR27
Hi, I will try to keep this as short as possible.

I was on ESA (work group, not support group) I had to migrate to Universal Credit.
I had a WCA & was found fit for work. I requested a mandatory reconsideration, when this didn't change the decision I appealed. I'm still awaiting the appeal

I recently enrolled on a course, I completed two weeks of this but it has unfortunately made my existing anxiety and migraines worse. I mentioned this to my work coach and stated I would be withdrawing from the course. She mentioned fit notes (I've never had to provide these before on UC)and didn't seem to happy at me withdrawing.
I have since got a fit note from my Doctor.
I am wary of how to submit this, as the last thing I want is to trigger another WCA
What is the best idea? (I started this course voluntarily, my work coach didn't ask me to)
Would it be best to submit the fit note in my journal as a "message to my work coach"? and explain "I've withdrawn from the course due to worsening anxiety & migraines, please find attached a fit note....."
If I "report a change" and submit the fit note, is this likely to trigger a new WCA? I really want to avoid this while I'm still awaiting the appeal on my previous WCA.

Hope it makes sense.

Hi CR27

As you have been found fit for work at a WCA the new Fit Note in itself won't trigger a new WCA unless your health condition has worsened or it is a new health condition reported.
Here is the official guidance:
"Claimant reports a deteriorating or new medical condition
Following the WCA outcome, the claimant’s condition may deteriorate or they may
also develop a new health condition.
Claimants must be advised to declare their deteriorating or new condition in their
Universal Credit account.
If the claimant was found to have Limited Capability for Work (LCW) at their previous
WCA, they are not required to provide additional medical evidence of their
deteriorated condition. Following a conversation with the claimant about the potential
outcomes of a WCA reassessment, they can be referred for a reassessment straight
away.
If the claimant was found to be capable for work at their previous WCA, they will
need to provide a fit note or other medical evidence of their new or deteriorated
condition. They can then be considered for a new WCA referral instead of a
reassessment.
A decision will be made on the WCA assessment based on the deteriorating or new
condition.

However it would be a good idea to present the Fit Note to the Work Coach. This is because you are currently in the AWRR UC conditionality group and the Work Coach has control of the number of hours per week you can be mandated to spend on Work Related Activities. The Work Coach should reduce these hours if you provide evidence of a health condition.

Let us know how you get on.
