PIP REVIEW was created by Lorretta
I have been given a date to attend a telephone interview for my PIP review assessment next week, after waiting some two years! However, during this time my conditions have changed considerably and I have new evidence (lots of it but all relevant) that I would like to submit to the DWP to consider before they make their decision. I have been told by DWP that this should not be an issue and because of these changes I can request a change of appointment to give me time to submit the new information. However, the agents (Agues) for DWP have said that I am unable to change my date because I have already requested reasonable adjustments be made (from face-to-face to a telephone assessment) and they are adamant that they will not change it. I am mindful that if they make a decision based on my telephone assessment and not on the new and relevant information, that it will not be the right decision. Has anyone lese had this experience and if so what did you do. Can anyone suggest what else I can do as the advice given by DWP conflicts their agents decision. I am not prepared but feel under duress to go ahead with it or my PIP award be stopped! I was told that I can send in additional information but that it may not be considered in the decision making process. This is my dilemma which is so stressful and making me ill. Any advice would be helpful.

Hi Loretta
I can understand how stressful this is and clearly they are being unreasonable. I think they do say that they will only change the date once, but the first time wasn't about a change of date - you wanted a different type of assessment - which you are allowed to ask for. You could not know that your health would deteriorate, and you should be able to submit the additional information. If you can cope - I would ring again and ask them for a different date. I would ask them why they are refusing to make a reasonable adjustment and I would ask to speak to a senior case manager. Make a note of the people you talk to. If they refuse then you immediately contact the DWP and tell them what has happened and you follow that up with a letter with all the details. You then need to take part in the assessment so that no one can say you refused to take part.
Make sure that phone call is recorded. If possible, record the assessment yourself. Make sure that you tell the assessor that your health has deteriorated and that you were refused enough time to send in the additional information. Depending on the outcome, you may want to put in an official complaint.
I know it's a lot, and this is the last thing you need. Hang in there and try to fight if you have the energy. If you don't, go along with what they say and file the complaint afterwards.
