Hi everyone.
A huge thank you once again to Benefits & Work for their invaluable guides to PIP.
I've recently had to complete my son's PIP review form.
The DWP had previously awarded him enhanced rate care & only standard mobility back in 2024 which meant he had to hand his Motability car back. We decided to appeal the decision & we won because the DWP abandoned the appeal.
It might have been something to do with the fact that the telephone assessment took place without an appointment in a local retail centre car park. My son, being neurodivergent & mentally unwell at the time, was unable to speak for himself, ended up having a panic attack & subsequently his mental health took yet another nosedive.
In the appeal, I argued that the DWP failed in their duty of care to my son in particular with respect to the reasonable adjustments he needed to ensure he could participate in the assessment & that the telephone assessment was flawed, invalid & unreliable.
Fast forward to 2026, my son's PIP review form arrived. It took all my strength & motivation to help him complete it. I poured over it & when I sent it off, I still didn't think that I had done enough.
Turns out my fears were unfounded. He received the decision yesterday after only four weeks; Enhanced care & enhanced mobility. He & I are over the moon, in particular that he doesn't need reviewing again until 2032.
So once again, B&W have been invaluable - so far I've won 5 tribunals (for myself & others) & to not have to fight my son's review decision have brought some much needed breathing space. Long may it continue.
May the odds remain in everyone's favour

Hi Savvysal
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your story. After being successful at five tribunals would you have any tips for us and other Forum members ?

Dear Savvysal, you are savvy indeed. Just a massive well done. As I know from my own lesser efforts, when you are supporting another claimant the responsibility does weigh heavily! So very very well done.
