ESA was created by Elaine2
Is ESA payable if you move abroad within an EU country and for how long? I note there has been a number of discussions relating to this. I also note there has been a ruling in 2009 from the EU which the DWP appear to be trawling through what is this all about can anyone help?

Thank you for that Survivor can I just ask as it seems unclear, as most people are being changed this year from IB to ESA, if you are living permanently in another EU country will you be able to get ESA assessment as part of linking? Or, are all benefits stopped? I think I saw something on either this forum or another where the person has had their ESA and DLA stopped altogether. Is the DWP just stopping ESA if you live in another EU country and because you have to be in receipt of a taxable benefit just stopping DLA as well? This was unclear from the link. I did read a gentleman in France is assessed locally by a Doctor for IB will this still happen with ESA?

I don't know off the top of my head - I'd have to look it up. Maybe one of my fellow mods would know the answer.

On the assumption that you are currently receiving IB.
When IB claimants are transferred to ESA, the claim will be treated as a new one so the content of the following link is still applicable.

With regard to DLA, the following page covers the subject.
