Hi, I know that you refer to GP reports, But if your illness requires any hospital visits for treatment or just a consultation, Normally you are entitled to a written copy of that which is sent to your GP free of charge, The hospitals i attend in (northwest) when you go to book in they take your details then ask "would you like a written copy of the consultation) this is usually posted to you a couple of weeks later,

Hi,
just to let you know, my excellent Gp wrote a number of detailed letters/reports for me in support of my Nhs pension claim and charged me £35 each time!

I think you got a bargain :) Good luck with your claim.
