ESA Appeal upheld was created by MAGGIE
I cannot thank this site enough for its support, without it I am sure I would have gone under. I have been suffering depression and anxiety for past eighteen months, and whatever the outcome I know I would not have been able to return to work. I have since received another letter saying that I have to attend a medical assesment with an Atos doctor, as I have not been placed in the support group, I have already attended six pathways to work appointments before the appeal was heard, and on the last one the personal advisor advised unless current rules, or my circumstances change it will be 3 years before I am contacted again. I would really appreciate any advice or which links to follow on this site, with regards to this second esa medical.

Hi Karen, Thanks for reply, I have been told that this is a second part of my original medical,(the one in which I appealed) as it was not done at the time, and it is to assess what kind of work I may be capable of which they will then pass on to a personal advisor.(this is what is confusing me as I have already attended 6 pathways to work appointments with a personal advisor). Although my appeal was upheld, I was not placed in the support group. Hope this makes sense, and if anyone could help as to what I can expect, what questions I may be asked. Am trying to keep stress down, but this is not helping. Many thanks to everyone out there who may be able to help me.

Hi Maggie,

It does seem extremely pointless making you attend a 'second medical' or work-focused health-related assessment to give it its proper title when you have already attended all your Pathways interviewws.

You can find details of what happens at a WFHRA and the questions you will be asked in our guides to claiming ESA.

Good luck,

Steve

Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply, could you direct me to the site for this information. I can only find the 60 questions likely to be asked at your medical, and what to expect from your pathways to work interviews. I cannot find anything in relation to questions, information and advice for the WFHRA assessment, which will be passed on to my personal advisor to assist and support me overcoming barriers to work. Many thanks

Hi Maggie

I'm not quite sure why you appear to have been called to a work-focussed health related assessment as my understnding is that these have in fact been suspended by the Government with effect from today! Please refer to the following B & W article for further information on this, click here

It may be a good idea to contact whoeever sent the letter to tell them you understand these WFHRA's are supposed to be suspended for the time being.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Mr B :)
