What are the benefits of a Welfare Lawyer

Oh Dear! Im a welfare rights adviser based at a Law Firm, We have a legal aid contract, although the latest tenders have seen us dramaticaly reduced in how many people we can see. Never the less, We get a lot of people coming in about appeals. In My experience, over 12 years now, a legal aspect can help (but not exclusively). You see, I am not a solicitor, but highly trained and knowleagable about The Welfare Laws in the UK. If someone does not qualify for legal help(Aid) we would,allways without exception, offer a " fixed fee", and its allways reasonable. We can prepare submissions and often deal with highly complex cases, esecially fraud. With all due respect to CAB, very often their staff do not allways have such detailed knowledge. I recently represented a client on a Living Together case, the total alleged overpayment was in excess of 12K, She paid me £120 all in. We submitted information which was compelling and clearly showed that she had never lived with anyone. We Won ! £120 well spent I would say.Interestingly, the CAB told her to come and see me.We pride our selves on representing ALL our clients and providing the same quality service to legal aid or private client. I am aware some solicitors firms are frowned upon for their money grabbing aproach but in My case, that is not so. We will also offer the client the ability to make a small payment each week if needs be. Locally, Tribunal Chairs and DWP DM's refer to me as " The Rottweiler". My advice to you is:- if there are no other options, seek out a Law Firm offering WR Law, and ASK if they will do a fixed fee or agreed fee for their work. A good advisor will not turn you down. I am appealing a DLA refusal and have gladly accepted help from the Welfare Rights people. They have been marvellous so far, and they will be there to represent me at my Tribunal. So I would suggest you contact your local Welfare Rights office and the representation and advice is free!

I know that advertising is probably not allowed on here, but I am trying to find a Welfare Benefits solicitor. I would be most grateful if you would let me know which law firm you are from, for my own research purposes. As normally they are quite difficult to find, as there are not many of them, especially in my area of the country. Thank you.
