Hi jj,
The last two times I've had to get a fit note, I didn't experience any problems. Mainly because I was such a mess that I was already crying before they I asked why I was there.
I think they have to ask you if you are fit for work. If you say no they will ask why. Just be honest.
I'm not sure what my GP will be like now he's had correspondence with the DWP though!
Best wishes,
Rachel

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I wouldn't worry.
Your doctor, having an understanding of your health will know whether you are capable of working or not, just as you do.

The only thing resulting from my GP being contacted by the DWP, has been my surprise at how little he knows about the process. I can only assume that I am the first person he treats who has applied for ESA.

ESA is a very cleverly named benefit. When I told my GP that I am claiming ESA, he asked me if it is a sickness benefit, or a benefit that requires me to look for work.
GPs are completely clueless about the benefit system. Even the name Employment and Support Allowance is enough to con people into thinking it is an allowance to support you while you look for employment!
I have in the past educated my GP about the flawed medical tests when I realised that he thought they are serious tests conducted my specialists in disability. I would encourage all claimants do the same with their GP.
