I'm sorry the stress of this is making you feel so rough. Please make sure you're getting all the support you can with this. Do you have a CPN or support worker who can help? Don't forget people like the Samaritans (details at the top of this page in the thread about if you are distressed).

A CPN is a community psychiatric nurse. Sometimes they're called community mental health nurses. Some people with mental health or dependency problems have someone who helps them cope with everyday things, and that's a support worker.

If you don't have anyone like this but feel that you might benefit from one, consider talking to your GP about it.

Community psychiatric nurses and support workers are a dying breed at the present time.

At my local mental health trust they have virtually abandoned CPNs altogether, and you definitely won't get one unless you live on your own. The instruction now is that if you require help you need to get in touch with the crisis resolution team. The problem is you can never contact them as their 'phone is permanently engaged!

Mental health always was and always will be the Cinderella service within the NHS.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Yes, that's true, it's getting harder and harder to get either a CPN or a support worker.

Speaking to people online, there seem to be wide variations in what services are available.

I forgot to mention that some GP practices have mental health workers attached.
