Someone else filling out ESA50 questionnaire was created by MAGGIE
Hi All,
Just a quick question, if a family member is filling out ESA50 questionnaire on my behalf, do they write it as (I have etc.etc.)or (My mother/father etc. etc) Many thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Someone may correct me, but I don't think it matters, as long as the comments represent your thoughts.
Just remember to fill in the section that states someone has filled it in on your behalf.

Hi Maggie
I think it would be preferable to have it written in first person, as though you were writing it.
It shouldn't really make any difference, but to the eye, having the ESA50 written in second person may give the reader the impression that the problems stated are your family member's opinion of your health, rather than your own.
That's just my opinion, but as I said, I doubt it would make much difference.
Hope that's helpful

Hi MAGGIE
I endorse the advice already given in this thread as my ESA50 was completed in the first person. Thanks to this site & the guides I was successful first time with my application, being placed in the WRAG.
FYI I have copied the closing statement from my ESA50 which you may find helpful.
"Page 25. Other information
Because CFS is a fluctuating illness as is my depression my condition is variable from day to day and from hour to hour. Over the course of a two week period approximately:
• 70% are my less good days;
• 20% are my best days and;
• 10% are my worst days
Because of my CFS and multi joint and muscle pain and poor concentration and memory which have been made even worse by my depression, even on my best days I am unable to sit and use a computer keyboard for longer than 10 to 15 minutes and no more than 3 times a day at the most .
I have filled in the sections on the ESA50 10/09 Questionnaire myself and have dictated the detailed information for the relevant boxes to my daughter who has typed these pages for me. I have then read and checked these pages for the accuracy of the information."
Good luck.
