The letter says "Should you still need our assistance please contact us as soon as possible". So i suppose my caseworker is quite keen for me to contact her before this 14 day deadline. But how was the date for the deadline decided?

My letter is Wed 12 Jan, the last one was Thurs 16 Dec - think it'd be a standard 28 days since the last letter?

I ignored the 16 Dec letter because it said "Without supportive medical evidence we are unable to assist you with your appeal" Which i queried in this thread

TOPIC: DLA form has only one page for medical evidence

can't even give telephone advice?

I think perhaps what its about is they need a date when they decide to destroy my documents.

If a case lasts a whole year do they decide to destroy documents 7 years from the beginning of the case or the end?

I sent an email to my CAB representative yesterday asking if it was possible to re-open a closed case.

This time the reply wasn't ignored. I sent an email over a month ago but it was ignored.

It said: "It isn't possible to re-open a case once it is closed. " Nothing about correspondence or about re-activating if i get in touch again.

If you have nominated the CAB as your agent with regard to the DWP, they would be required to contact you if they received any correspondance on your behalf.

Closing your case just means they will not initiate any action on your behalf, you should be able to re-activate it at any time.

What they are required to do and sometimes do are two different things, with the amount of work they have on with all peoples problems housing benefit and debit cut in funding ect ect

I would not bet on them contacting everyone who they get a letter for from the DWP

a closed file is out of site and out of mind IMO I would take steps to make sure I too was told of all new letters from the DWP if the CAB had been working on my behalf

I'm starting to talk to myself on a forum and reply to my own posts. Is that a sign of mental health problems?

Depends whether they make sense or not. :)

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
