Rules when visiting Job Centre was created by smc
I have health issues and have had to claim benefits as a result. Anytime I have had to go to the Job Centre I have taken someone with me and it has been no problem.
A relative of mine has had to start claiming JSA as they are out of work and they went along for first appointment last earlier in the week and had to go back today. Today they took someone with them and they were told that for today they'd let the other person be with them but in future they were to come on their own.
Is this a rule just for JSA claimaints or does it apply to all claimaints no matter what benefit they are claiming?
Thanks in advance!

I have in the past taken a friend with me. They tend to sit in the waiting area and it has never been a problem.
Best wishes

ABSOLUTE right in England with no exceptions, you have a right to have "a friend" with you at any official appointment/medical as a witness.
I suggest a phone call to the manager.
If that gets you nowhere get your MP involved.

Thanks!!
At this JC there is no waiting area before you actually get taken through to where all the advisers are at their desks.

Hmm that reminds me of a time when I was interviewed at the DSS in a box of a room with no handle on the door! Incredibly intimidating!
