balance disorders and constant dizziness ? was created by fionaf
Hi, I have a balance disorder that has kept me house bound for 2 years. It means that going out into public places, socialising make the symptoms worse sickness, spinning etc. I am being treated by two hospitals but with no cure in sight. I am told by my consultant not to push myself too hard because the balance system crashes when overloaded. How do I deal with this on the ESA form that will arrive in March ? Will the fact that I am receiving treatment and am on the waiting list for further treatment having any baring on my case?

Hi Fiona
Steve will be updating the ESA guides to reflect the changes, but as the DWP are not releasing the new ESA50 (not even sure if it's been designed yet), it may not be for a while.
Best wishes
Derek

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You should look the ESA guides in the Members area, and think about how your disability maps onto each of the tests, then think about what evidence from your Doctor and Consultant will support what you would write.
Hope this helps.

Is there an organisation for the balance disorder which you could contact for advice or if not one which would include the disorder amongst others?
