This is my first posting. My Incapacity Benefit is due to be reviewed in September, it was last reviewed 5 years ago. Will this review migrate me to esa? How many weeks before the Review date will the esa50 form be despatched? Will a medical certificate requiring completion by my G.P. be despatched with this form? I have not had one sent to me in the past and have not submitted medical reports with the completed IB50 form. In fact, I have recently been advised by the CAB not to ask my G.P. for a medical report to submit with the questionnaire. I have to say, I have little confidence in the local CAB. 5 years ago, I completed the IB50 myself and asked them if it was o.k. The man told me that my DLA form was fine!!!

The tranfer of IB claimants will begin in the next month or two, so you should assume that your next assessment will be for ESA.

The procedures for ESA are different, information from your GP is only requested after the ESA50 has been returned. and my impression is that the request is a lot less freequent for ESA than IB.

  			 				Hi Dragon,

I would supply ALL medical evidence with my claim whether they want it of not. I know the forms tells you not to, but if you have evidence and support from your GP then ehen DWP medical people are looking at your claim, they will be able to read it and consider it, they certainly wont be able to turn a blind eye to it.

I have received IB since 1996 & was exempt from the PCA. Last March ,for some unknown reason, I was required to undergo an ATOS medical which I "passed". The normal review is next month. My Q is will the review take into account past IB assessments or will it be a whole new proceedure for esa

Whilst several of the ESA tests appear to be simlar to those for IB, the emphasis is very different, so you should not assume that any previous medicals will be taken into account.I have received IB since 1996 & was exempt from the PCA. Thank you Gordon for your reply. I confess that I am getting more & more confused & anxious. My IB review is set for 15 March. Today I received a letter from DWP inforrming me that as from 15 March my IB will be paid fortnightly instead of weekly. Is this significant, or simmply a coincidence?
