 	 				DLA was created by beverley1956
Hi I filled in my DLA form 4 weeks ago and sent it off. Two weeks later DLA sent out the dreaded brown envelope and told me i wasn't entitiled to the Care component or the mobility component! i was shocked to hear my GP went against me in everything i told the DLA, and they based their decision on my GPs comments. I filled in the forms to the letter stating in great detail everything about my disabilites and how it effects my everyday life! I also stated that my daughter moved house to the same street as mine so she could care for me! It makes me feel that everything I put in the forms makes me out a BIG FAT LIAR!
I used your site and done everything your wonderful advise gives! I am just so mad at my GP
and dont know were to go from here! Help

I too have received that dreaded brown envelope saying I was not entitled to care or mobility component. Age Concern helped me to fill in the form it was before I joined this site. I am waiting to find out how they came to their decision. Feeling pretty fed up right now and don't know what to do

I think the first thing you need to do is to see your GP and understand why there is such a discrepancy between their submission and yours.

Once, you have done this, and seen whether they will alter the evidence, you can make a decision whether to appeal or not.

  			 				Hi

Does your GP know how your disability affects you? I spoke to my GP before i sent in my DLA forms and had written all this down for her, so she scanned this onto my records so that it was there should my report be done by any other GP in the practice. My GP had no idea how bad things had become until i told her, its a difficult thing to discuss but they do need to know. I had only really gone to see my GP for repeat medications the rest of the time i was seen frequently by various consultants at the hospital!! Because you are only allocated a 10 minute slot each time you see your GP it is difficult to sit and explain how your disability affects you.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck if you decide to appeal!!

Big hugs
Mm

Ask your GP for a copy of the report tht was sent to the DWP - you are entitled to ask to see this.
