ESA - Under 25's appeal rate? was created by Casey
I am currently filling in an ESA questionnaire (the new one), and based on everything I've heard it seems likely I could be found fit for work.

As I'm under 25, I have been on the reduced assessment rate. If I appeal a decision will this change? Will I be paid the same rate as everyone over 25 who makes an appeal is or will I remain at the reduced rate?

I was also wondering if a 3 (max. 4) day delay in providing the DWP with a new sick note is likely to affect my claim? I'd rather get one from my GP directly when I next see him as the surgery staff don't seem to have a clue but there's always a wait of a few weeks for appointments.

Thank you very much. :)

If you need to appeal, you will continue to receive the Assessment rate of ESA, for under 25s I believe this is currently £53.45.

With regard to submitting Fit Notes. The DWP seem to get very upset about this, and often stop payments until a new note is received, although contacting them in advance may allow you to dodge any problems. Again, if you appeal, you will need to continue to supply Fit Notes so I would reccomend you schedule your appointments to avoid delays.
