The actual transfer process will take at least one work day, but it then depends on how frequently the DWP run the system that initiates it in the first place.Hi, does anyone know how long it takes from when the DWP (the DLA in my case)release a payment to when it is in your bank account?
many thanks
Most benefits are only rum weekly (maybe even fortnightly), so if they miss the run, you would have to wait for the next one.
Based on my own experience, ad hoc or part week payments seem to be delayed even further, probably because of the authorisation they have to go through.

the dwp action payments in departments they then hand a tape over to there bank and they run it and it should be three working days from then unlike a bank actioning a payment and getting it three working days later this "tape" system the dwp use in many cases slows things down if you call the dla unit they should be able to tell you
the system they use is because they also get quicker info on rejected payments
(found this out today)

They do use BACS, but using this service for individual transfers is relatively expensive, so they batch all the DLA, ESA, etc together, put them on a tape, and do them all at once.that sounds complicated, you would think they would just use BACS like everyone else, but i guess payments aren't so easy to recall then if they are rejected. thanks for the info
