INCOME SUPPORT was created by mr x
Hello folks, I am looking for some advice if possble please.
I am in receipt of Income Support because of long term illness.
Recently I received a form that said it was reviewing my Income support as I had been on it a long time.I filled it in , sent it back and received a reply saying that my IS will increase from DECEMBER 2011.(wife works part time and her wages have dropped hence the change in benefit level)
Should I read in anything into this , for example, will I be left on Income Support until after that date?
I fully expected to be transfered to ESA before then and assumed this form was the start of that process.
Thanks in advance for any advice received.

Hi Mr X
If you haven't been given a transfer date it's unlikely that the DWP know when you will be transferred, so it seems they are saying that your IS will increase at this date if you haven't been transferred by then.
I'm not sure exactly what the reasons are for the increase so I wouldn't like to guess what will happen if you are transferred early.
Good luck
Derek

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I wouldn't read anything into the fact that you may be left on IS until after December 2011.
It is standard practice for the DWP to inform you of the position as applies to your circumstances at the present time, but if for example you are subject to the work capability assessment and hopefully transferred to ESA, any references to your IS entitlement will become null and void.

Thank you for the replies.
About 6 weeks ago I also received a letter saying that I did not need to attend a medical (PCA) regarding my Income Support claim as I continue to satisfy the requirements and that they may contact me in future.Again I was very surprised . I was expecting to be told to attend the new medical test for an ESA transfer.
I know I will have to transfer at some point and part of me wishes they would just get on with it.
cheers

Hello folks.Just a quick update in the hope it may help others in future.
With regard to my original posting on this thread, Today I have received a letter from DWP saying that my transfer to ESA from Income support is to begin. They say they will phone me within 2 weeks to begin the process and then go from there.I still don't see why they are saying my income will change in December in the original letter i began this thread about..They do not explain what that means.Anyway...
Finally it begins....I will post updates if it helps anybody in any way.
I am utterly dreading this. Not sure if I should request a home medical.
cheers
