am returning my esa50 to atos do i need to send to

I am going to be sending in esa50 can i send it by registered post ?

Also i have read somwhere that you need to send a copy of your esa50 and any evidence to the dwp aswell. if this is the case who do i adress it to exactly ? ie person

My friend also has just had a new MRI scan but due to the time limit of sending back esa50 will not be seeing the consultant till a month after esa50 due back date, what can i write as do not know the results of this new scan.

You don't need to send your ESA50 to Atos and the DWP. Just send it to Atos (Medical Services) with any medical evidence you have.

You can send it recorded delivery or registered post, but the most important thing is to get proof of posting. A Certificate of Posting is free. The DWP often sign for mail and still claim that it was not in the bundle that they signed for!

If you have medical or supporting evidence you should send this to the DWP and you can do this as soon as you receive it. It will be considered by the decision maker.

'Dear Sir or Madam' should suffice. Make it clear in your cover letter that it's to support your claim and include your NI number.

Edit: If your friend is seeing the consultant a month after the ESA50 is due, there may still be time to send it to the decision maker before a decision is actually made, but for now you can only state that you are awaiting the results.

hi Sandra and Derek, I sent mine (for Incap/ben) to both the DWP and ATOS keeping copies for myself and got a 2 year award with no medical required. Just put your name and Nat Ins Nnumber on any seperatepapers you submit as well has all up to date medical evidence. Best Wishes

Thanks Derek for the info, this is an IB TO ESA so they should have some sort of info at DWP already even though was back to 2007. I will send the ESA50 with proof of posting to ATOS and when she gets the medical over with if needs one (we know she will) will then send copies of eveidence and new evidence to the DWP DM, will try and find out there name nearer time if not will adress it as your suggested to sir/madam, so much to think of and so stressful to all concerned. Thanks again for the advice, am using your help guides on here to fill in the esa50 with the right wording so uselful.

May I ask how you find out what the address/person is who's the decision maker for your claim?

I havent all i know its the DWP assume local JCP will call them nearer the time to ask
