Hi! Had my medical today ?

Hope this helps somebody in a state about it; as i was.

Not what i was expecting from all the posts on here (we were very cautious).
Pleasant receptionist called me by my first name and got my wife to sign for expences said cheque would be in post.
Medical was carried out by a Dr.
Who said he had read my medical evidence and by the questions he asked about my disabilities; without referance to them he had.
He asked questions (not all the ones on the 60 questions list)and typed alot;never examined or touched me physically once apart from to shake hands.
The typing i found encourageing because i thought he wasn't just ticking boxes.
It definately was not a bad experiance this time but who knows what future meds will bring.

As far as the outcome i will have to wait and see how many points he gave me probably 0; but then i would appeal.
They may be sneaky but this one wasn't an Ogre.
Good Luck All!!!

MS,

Glad to hear of your positive experience at your ATOS assessment, and that it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.

As I have said many times I think it is much of a "Lucky Dip" unfortunately.

Personally, if I have to attend an ATOS "face to face", I don't want the receptionist or the HCP to be nice to me, I just want a fair and accurate assessment, carried out in a professional manner, with normal medical etiquette, while abiding by the WCA guidelines.

Hope you get the correct assessment, and happy that it was not a bad experience for you.

Like your comment about "sneaky". LOL !!

best wishes

My partners medical was much the same, the doctor was very friendly and pleasant.
Seems she was a wolf in sheep clothing, he got six points and was told he was fit for work.
My partner appealed waited 19 months for the appeal hearing 3 weeks ago, which he won with 18 points.

We're still waiting for the back pay which roughly comes to six thousand pounds...it's not about the money though, it's about the sick being recognised as sick and not just tossed aside as fit for work which a huge majority or Esa claimants are it's a very unfair system.
Good luck with your score, lets hope you didn't have a wolf in sheeps clothing too :-)
Tracy.
