How long between ESA50s? was created by questor
I volunteer for a charity working with people in recovery from addiction in supported housing.
In April one of our clients was sent an ESA50 which was completed and returned, he wasn't called to a medical from ATOS though. Now he has another ESA50 and I wonder if it is because an adviser from the Job center said she thought he was fit to work.
Is the time scale right now after the changes in March?

I'm assuming your client had a Decision letter following the previous ESA50? Were they placed in the WRAG or Support Group?

Three months is definitely on the short side of the re-assessment cycle especially if a Decision was made without the need for a medical, however, it is not impossible that the ATOS "doctor" concluded they would be well enough to begin a return to work in the three months they appear to have allowed.

It is possible to lodge a complaint with the DWP about the length of time between assessments, however, my impression is that they tend to defer to ATOS for the timescale and more importantly, it often takes longer than the six weeks you have to complete the ESA50 for the complaint to be processed, forcing the claimant to complete it anyway.

My understanding is that people in residential rehabilitation for treatment of drug or alcohol addiction would be put in the support group.
Perhaps this is a continuing reassessment of treatment but as recovery has no time scale and without having further information I would suggest you consult the local CAB, WRO or can check out wiredin to recovery.
