please can any one tell me when some one claims ESA with a wife on his claim that was on JSA but had to come off it to look after him (bowl cancer ,serve back pain ,asthma sever depression)what is their weekly combined income they have applied for DLA so she can apply for CA but was unfortunately turned down appealing on DLA.their combined fortnightly payment is £105 surly this cant be right. he has just filled in ESA and has not herd any thing back yet.
I believe the weekly allowance for a couple, where one of them receives Income Related ESA is £105.75, this will be made up of the standard ESA rate and an Imcome Support Supplement to bring it up to the couples allowance.
If you are receiving ESA(IR) then you may be eligible for other benefits such as Housing benefit, assistance with mortgage payments and a reduction in Council Tax. In addition, you may qualify for free prescriptions and dental care.
Unfortunately it is beyond the remit of the forums to confirm whether you are actually eligible and how much you might receive if you are, so you will need to seek face to face advice from a suitable advisor at your local CAB or Welfare Rights office.
Good luck.
