Back Dated Payments.

Partner has been paying back weekly instalments, but ESA say that when his case has been sorted they are keeping the back pay for money he has already had in loans.
We have debts we need to pay that have mounted up over last year.
Totally fed up

Does Any Of The Mods Or Posters know if the DWP are allowed to take back dated payments owed to recover money for crisis loans taken out over last couple of years?

I think they can and do, this has been asked before and someone posted a nice link to a page saying how it works. I also but cant find at present a telephone number to the dwp debt department where you can ask for adjustments in how much you pay back and when

I've searched for a definitive answer regarding the repatment of Crisis Loans without any real success.
I'm afraid you need to speak to your local CAB or Welfare Rights office.

Doesn't say anything on there about back payments being retained.
I'll have a ring round tomorrow to see what I can find out.
My partner has now given up with it all, it is making him ill.
Thanks again for your help
