work related activity roup was created by c.haselden
My hubbie has been placed in the work related activity group but we thought he would have gone in the support group. He has numerous health problems and very unwell. He is registered blind, diabetic and is having heamodialysis three days per week. Can anyone advise weather it is worth the trouble to appeal this decision. Thank you

The simple answer is yes and apply for DLA. If you can get a one to one with welfare rights or CAB this will help you.

I would suggest that you have a look through the ESA Claims on Physical Grounds guide in the Members area.

Rather than concentrating on your husbamd's diagnosis, look at how he is impacted by his disabilities. Each of the of the Support Group criteria is listed in context to the tests, so you can see what is required,

It would also be worth seeing whether you can assistance from the CAB or a Welfare Rights officer as they will be able to see whether it is possible to apply any of the exceptional circumstances.

Hope this helps.

Hi colliewollie,

Can you provide more detail, was hubbie on IB, and been transferred to ESA WRAG.

If so did he have a face to face medical assessment, or was he placed straight into WRAG?.

Have you looked in the members area on the left, Help for claimants, in orange. Then go to ESA resources, there is lots of useful information.

If you check there and feel that hubby should be in the Support Group, you can appeal within a month of the decision.

If you need further advice please come back, and we will do our best to help.

Hi, he had been on incapacity and income support for a number of years and received the ESA forms in April to fill in which we did and returned immediately. The reply came today. IT ALL SEEMS very confusing.
