hi this is a bit of a long story so bear with me i have cerebal palsy hemplegia down the right side of my body panic attacks anxiety arthritis asthma to name a few anyway i get higher rate dla and mobility
i was diagnosed as a baby with cerebal palsy i was under consultants till i was 16 and then discharged saying theyre was nothing more they could do i also have incontinence and bowel problems 4 different medications just for the bowel anyway i got the dreaded brown envelope and theyre sending me a esa form the thing is with not being under any consultants for a long time will this go against me i have a ot report from3 years ago stating i was very severly disabled should i use that will it even help my partner is my full time carer i have been told he can claim income support for me but would they make him work i know he has to attend a wfi if we do this will they make him work also with me being his partner even though im on dla could they make me work therefore defying the object do i go for income support with my partner or do i face the dreaded esa any help and advice please if poss thank you

You need to see an advisor at your local CAB or Welfare Rights office, to better understand what your options are, as we are limited on what we can advise on the forums. They also may be able to help you complete your ESA50.
The major difference between IB/ESA and Income Support is that the latter is means tested, so there may be deductions from any potential IS payments that you are not currently experiencing with you IB.
Neither you nor your partner can be requested to work, either while you are receiving IB/ESA or if your partner claims IS as a Carer.

The fact that you no longer see a consultant about your medical condition, should not necessarily be detrimental insofar as future ESA entitlement is concerned.
Many people are discharged from the care of a consultant not because their medical condition is cured, but often because nothing further can be achieved medically and a person may just have to live with their condition. You can always ask the DWP to contact your GP when you receive form ESA50 as his/her input will be very helpful, in view of the fact you have a chronic disability. For further information, please see my reply in this thread HERE.
If your partner is receiving Carers Allowance, he does not have to take part in work-focused interviews as a condition of entitlement, and therefore he is legally entitled to decline an invitation to attend a WFI without sanctions. Furthermore, he is not required to available for work if he claims Income Support, to which a carer premium will be added currently worth £31 a week.
You could also claim IS until you are migrated to ESA, but as Gordon says in view of the number of permutations applicable to your circumstances, it would be beneficial for you and your partner to consult your local CAB or Welfare Rights office for face-to-face advice.

thanks gordon i spoke to welfare rights they said if i let my partner claim income support i would lose 7 pence get this even if i qualify for esa support i would lose 12.00 pound per week but thankyou i wouldnt of thought of putting that down about cerebal palsy being a condition that doesnt improve so cheers and thanks
