is it right or normal that atos should write to my GP for evidence on my health, before my ib medical,as i asked my gp & he told me atos did not write to him,but my friends gp was asked for info before his medical. ;)

Hi DL,

It varies, sometimes they will contact your G.P. for extra medical evidence, sometimes they won't.

If the DM feels that he has enough evidence in front of him to make a decision, he may not request further info from your G.P.

I gather you mean ESA medical assessment, rather than IB, are you being migrated IB to ESA.

A request to your G.P. could be in the form of request for a written report, or more likely by asking your G.P. to fill in form ESA113, (used to be IB113).

Remember if you are being migrated from IB to ESA, and you have requested that the DM seeks further evidence from your G.P. then the DM should do so.

If you wished, you could obtain your own letter of support, and forward that to ATOS/DWP DM, however there may be a fee involved in obtaining such a letter of support from your G.P., it may be worth checking as some G.P.'s don't charge for this service.

cheers

I'm not sure about this, but I believe that for IB they would send an IB113 to your GP for an initial claim or if they thought that information from your GP may be sufficient alone, to make an award (at least that's what it said on the cover letter to GP). Your GP might not have been sent an IB113 for subsequent medicals.

For ESA I believe the DWP has more discretion over if or when they send out an ESA113.

I thought IB assessments were now defunct Derek ?, as the only claimants on IB, would be those waiting for migration to ESA.

So isn't the IB113 defunct also?.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick here?.

cheers

Hi bro58

My first paragraph was in the past tense and for information only. I may have misunderstood but I thought that the OP may have been referring to the recent past when claimants were still attending PCA assessments.

Derek

Agreed Derek,

It is not absolutely clear what tence DL is writing in.

I wrongly or rightly assumed that the OP was basically asking whether it was the norm for the DWP to request further medical evidence from a G.P. before an ESA assessment.

Maybe the OP will clarify on reading our replies.

cheers
