Based on other members comments, some regions seem to have suspended WFIs for claimants appealing to be put in the Support Group from the WRAG, however, despite our looking, we have not been able to find any change in regulations that cover this, so there is no guarantee that someone will be excused.Does anybody know if you still need to attend WFIs if you have been awarded the WRAG, but are appealing against it to be put into the Support Group? I wondered if they postpone them while you are going through the appeal process?
Thank you in advance, if anyone knows the answer to this.
If "invited" to a WFI, attendance is mandatory, although they can be deferred and it is possible to hold an interview over the phone or even at your home, although the latter is very rare.

Hi mermaid,
We have been asked this question before, and the answer as far as we can gather is no, there is no automatic exemption from attending WFI's if appealing WRAG to Support Group.
However, we have had members that have been told that they do not have to attend WFI's while appealing WRAG to Support.
We simply can't find any actual regulations to cover this.
From what we have gleaned, this matter regarding not having to attend WFI's while appealing WRAG to Support, comes under DWP operational procedures, and may therefore vary from one benefits office to another.
Therefore it may well be worth an appelant enquiring whether or not they had to attend WFI's in the scenario mentioned.
cheers

"Do claimants have to attend Work Focused Interviews whilst they await the outcome of an appeal?
Since October 2010, claimants have no longer been required to attend Work Focused Interviews whilst appealing"
