No, there are no restrictions on what you use your DLA for.

Incidentally, for glasses, you may be entitled to help on the basis of low income - get an HC1 form from your chemist. This explains it.

There are charities that will help with furniture - see your local CAB for advice or get the charities directory from your local library.

Many people use their DLA for all sorts of things that it was never intended for because being sick and/or disabled can be a very expensive business in terms of the essentials, never mind care.

Hi CHIK,

As a DLA recipient myself, I am not aware of any restrictions on what you have to use your DLA for.

The allowance is there to help improve a disbled person's quality of life in general.

It is accepted that diasbled people incur more costs in normal day to day living.

I can see nothing wrong in using your DLA to help with your existing conditions, and any resulting problems or limitations, so I wouldn't worry unduly.

cheers

Once again thank you for your prompt response.

I have inquired about filling in a IHC1 form. Even though I am Type 2 Diabetic and get screened every year because I am on IB I not entitled to support. If I was on the new replacement benefit I would!

I will take your advice and go on-line and look for other support options!

Kind regards

Chik
