After having been refused DLA, If I have further medical evidence, do I send it with the GL24 appeal form, so the DM can see its relevance before s/he makes a reconsideration decision, or does s/he write to me for further evidence before the reconsideration process?
Hi Paul
You will need to complete and send a GL24.
You will have your claim reconsidered by a different to Decision Maker. If the decision is not changed or you disagree with the new decision, it will automatically be sent to Appeal Tribunal.
You will then receive a "bundle" of papers to read through, which should give details of how the first decision was reached and the reconsideration.
It will be listed and a date given for hearing. You may withdraw your appeal at any stage.
You will find guides on appealing in the orange Members Only section.
May I wish you every success.
Kind regards
Michael
PS Apologies I missed part of your question. You can send the additional evidence with the GL24 form, but you dont have to, as your not required to be specific. You should keep copies of everything and send Recorded Delivery.

Thanks for your reply, but it seems to miss the point. I am ready to send the GL24 form, but do I send the new evidence with it or not,(because the way I see it, the DM could possibly make a new decision, which, if favourable, would mean I wouldn't have to go to appeal).

You must also send the office any evidence to support your case.
Hope that helps.
Best wishes,
Rachel

Hi Paul
You are quite right, I did miss the point which I hopefully have now corrected above. If you have supportive evidence that you feel the DM might require in order to reconsider your claim in your favour, then you can send it with the GL24.
Otherwise if the different DM does not change the decision, you can present the evidence at a tribunal, or at any time before your case is listed.
My apologies for not reading properly first time!
Michael
