RE DWP request for GP report for DLA claim renewal

Hi

I have submitted a DLA renewal claim recently with 2 supporting medical letters from my GP and from my consultant. I have received a letter from the DWP informing me that they are writing to my GP for a GP report for more information.

The letters I enclosed about my medical condition from my GP and consultant were informative as to how my condition affects my daily living activities. Is this usual practice for the DWP to then write to my GP for a GP report as well?

Many thanks
Phil

Hi K34,

It is not unusual for the DLA DM to contact a claimant's G.P. to gain extra evidence, or substantiate a claimant's qualification for an award of DLA.

See this link regarding reports that G.P.'s are required to complete :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/medical-reports-completion.pdf

You could make an appointment to discuss this with your G.P.

Do let your GPs surgery know about the report ASAP and let them know you want to discuss it with your GP before they return it to the DLA.

MY DLA report was received at my surgery without me knowing and a GP at the practice who has never even met me completed and return the from to the DLA, with information that he gained from my medical records. I am now going through a DLA appeal as lots of information was incorrect.
