Hi,

I'm on ESA in the WRAG group. I attended my first work programme appointment last week and was given a ream of papers that I was expected to read through and sign. I asked if I could take them away with me to read and my advisor agreed to this but I have to return them by post asap. I've now found various websites warning not to sign anything or asserting the right not to sign. Really? I'm not sure if the websites I've found are reliable or not. I don't want to upset my personal advisor or be uncooperative by not signing the paperwork. What do you advise?

The papers are:
1. Customer charter/ customer declaration (1 x signature)
2. Code of conduct/ customer agreement (1 x signature)
3. Customer details (1 x signature)
4. Employability skills audit (1 x signature)
5. Customer survey (1 x signature)
6. Health survey (no signature needed)
7. Employment programmes consent to share information (needs signature in 4 x different places)

Thank you for your help.

I am afraid we cannot help you with this decision.

The following has more details about the Work Programme

Work Programme

Most of the sites you mention are referring specifically to JSA and not ESA, the underlying legislation is different as is what you you can be asked to do, so I would recommend that you confirm that they are referring to ESA before following any advice.
