THANK YOU!! was created by Thea
With help from this site I was placed from the ESA WRAG to the support group -AND THE TRIBUNAL CAME TO MY HOME as did the DWP medical examiner! I was also awarded the lower-rate care component for DLA and retained my high rate mobility on the form alone.
Your site kept me sane and hopeful through all this whilst the local CAB just spoke doom and gloom and were generally getting things wrong.
I am so outraged by the Government changes to our benefits system; by the way they cleverly demonised us all as scroungers and not deserving of any empathy and concern. I have two teenage daughters and am very afraid of the society they're going to be part of. People have committed suicide over these disgraceful changes, and if I had not had my daughters I would have considered it too. The preceding years leading up to these changes brain-washed the public into seeing the disabled as welfare cheats thus, sadly, there's no great public backlash. The Government have been very clever in their manipulation of the public and this site was the only place I could find empathy and a shared sense of terrible injustice whilst the world looked on.
Ironically I used to work for the DWP before I was retired early on a medical pension. When I worked there -over 20 years ago-if a claimant threatened suicide any court case for fraud would be stopped. Now it's as if human beings are dispensable and seen only as drains on the system which have to be stopped -at ANY unethical price.
Okay my rant is over but my huge thanks to you and your site remain. For all you going through a tough time at the moment, just don't let the b**stards grind you down!!

Replied by Thea on topic Re:DWP Slow at providing Information.
Hi
It was actually easier than i thought having both the original examination and Tribunal held in my home. I just outlined my mobilty difficulties and other problems affecting my use of public transport. Then ATOS wrote back saying there was enough medical evidence to be seen at home. I also had my MP involved which also may have helped. Re the Tribunal, my MP wrote to them and the Judge decided to see me at home. Even though my MP part of this appalling Government he seemed to be effiective for me.
