Hi just wanted to update. Assisted my friend to appeal the decision and completed a GL24. Managed to obtain a sick note from the Gp backdated to when his benefit was stopped. The decision maker has allowed a late appeal due to friends relapse in mental health and he is now receiving ESA assessment phase. Oh and his money was backdated to his sick note (April). Many thanks for your invaluable advice.
I have sent a supporting letter so has his CPN to the decision maker so we are just waiting to see if they will reconsider their decision or send to a tribunal.

Hi I just wanted to update you on outcome of appeal. Friend appealed last August 2013. The Dwp accepted a late appeal. Friend had a relapse during this time & was sectioned again for several months. On discharge his con sent recent discharge papers.
Received date for appeal which was July 2014 however after sending some more paperwork a letter was received from the DWP whom looked at the decision & friend was placed in ESA support group. Many many thanks for your advice as it was such a relief for friend.
